Aiyedatiwa plans call centre to connect with Ondo youths

The Ondo State Government is set to establish a dedicated youth call centre to improve communication between the administration and young people across the state.

The proposed facility, to be known as the Ondo State Youth Call Centre, is expected to provide a platform for youths in the state’s 18 local government areas to seek information, make enquiries and channel their concerns directly to government authorities.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Youth and Social Inclusion, Henry Okunomo.

According to the statement, the centre will enable young people to access information on employment and empowerment programmes, report challenges, submit complaints and obtain assistance through relevant government interventions.

It stated that the initiative would also strengthen youth participation in governance and improve access to educational and entrepreneurial opportunities, particularly for those in underserved and riverine communities.

The statement noted that the facility was designed to address communication gaps between the government and young people.

It added, “Through this platform, the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Social Inclusion seeks to bridge the communication gap between government and young people while establishing a more structured mechanism for identifying, documenting and responding to youth-related concerns.”

The centre will also serve as a referral channel, directing enquiries and complaints to relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies for appropriate action.

The government explained that the initiative reflected its recognition of young people as active stakeholders in governance and development rather than merely beneficiaries of public policies.

Describing the project as a modern approach to youth engagement, the statement said, “The youth call centre meets the 21st century rapid response and synergy required for youth and social inclusion.”

It added that details concerning the official launch, operational arrangements and communication channels would be announced in due course.
