Olympiacos extended their winning run in the UEFA Europa League with a narrow 1-0 victory over Sparta Prague on Thursday, securing their third consecutive win in the competition’s league phase.
The decisive goal came in the 78th minute at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, when a cross from Marcus Holmgren Pedersen ended in the net.
UEFA subsequently credited the goal as an own goal by a Sparta Prague player rather than Olympiacos forward Armando González.
Olympiacos controlled much of the encounter, enjoying 59 per cent possession and winning 14 corner kicks while registering 13 shots.
Sparta Prague attempted 11 shots but failed to record any on target, as the hosts maintained their advantage to claim all three points.
The visitors also struggled with discipline, receiving four yellow cards compared with one for Olympiacos, who held on to their slender lead until the final whistle.
The victory extended Olympiacos’ impressive start to the 2026/27 Europa League campaign, following earlier wins over Jagiellonia Białystok and Marseille.
Olympiacos now have nine points from three matches, having scored four goals and conceded just one.
They will travel to France to face Rennes in their next league-phase fixture on November 5.
