The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned from his position, effective Monday, October 12, 2026.
Ogunwuyi announced his resignation in a letter dated October 12, addressed to the governor, bringing his tenure in the state government to an end.
In the letter, he described his service to the state as an honour and expressed satisfaction with the administration’s achievements.
He wrote, “Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration.”
The former Chief of Staff also expressed pride in his contributions to the state’s development, growth and prosperity.
He said, “I remain immensely proud of what we have collectively accomplished in advancing the growth, development and prosperity of our dear State.”
Ogunwuyi further expressed gratitude to Makinde for the opportunity to serve, while voicing confidence in the state’s continued progress.
He added, “Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest esteem and unwavering loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Before his appointment as Chief of Staff, Ogunwuyi served as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives.
His resignation comes amid a series of departures by political appointees from the Makinde administration over the past two months.
However, the resignation letter did not state the specific reason for his decision to leave the government.
