The Kwara State Government has approved the implementation of outstanding promotion exercises for workers in the state civil service and employees of government agencies, parastatals and media organisations.
The approval covers the 2025 promotion exercise for workers in the mainstream civil service, as well as the 2024 and 2025 exercises for employees of agencies, parastatals and media houses.
In a statement contained in a memo issued on Thursday, the Acting Head of Service, Dr Olufunke Shittu, said the approvals followed the completion of the necessary processes by the relevant establishments and the Civil Service Commission.
She said the state government had also assessed the financial implications of implementing the promotions before granting approval.
The approvals take effect from September 1, 2026.
Shittu stated that the financial benefits arising from the 2025 promotion exercise for mainstream civil servants would be paid from the effective date.
“The approval provides for the implementation of the 2024 and 2025 promotions for Agencies, Parastatals and Media Houses,” she said.
She added that the 2025 promotion exercise for workers in the mainstream civil service had equally received government approval.
According to the Acting Head of Service, the decision reflects the administration’s efforts to improve the welfare and career development of employees in the state public service.
“The approvals are part of the proactive measures of the present administration towards strengthening the welfare of workers in the employ of the State Government,” Shittu said.
She expressed optimism that the implementation of the promotions would boost workers’ morale, enhance productivity and provide opportunities for career progression.
Shittu also commended the state government for what she described as its continued commitment to improving the welfare and professional development of civil servants.
