The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, says filling stations in the Federal Capital Territory may adjust petrol pump prices in the coming days.

The association’s National Publicity Secretary, Chinedu Ukadike, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

Ukadike said marketers were preparing to review their prices and sales strategies following changes in the supply of new petrol products.

He, however, said the exact date for the adjustment would depend on when the products officially become available to marketers.

He said, “Once the new products begin arriving, marketers are expected to respond quickly by reviewing their prices and updating their product offerings.”

According to him, marketers could begin purchasing the products within the next few days, after which pump prices would be adjusted in line with prevailing market conditions and regulations.

The development follows recent increases in the ex-depot price of petrol by the Dangote Refinery.

The refinery reportedly raised its gantry price from ₦1,165 per litre to successive levels of ₦1,185, ₦1,200 and ₦1,265 within the past week.

The increases have already triggered higher petrol pump prices at several filling stations across the FCT.

Ukadike said the marketers would ensure that any price adjustments comply with existing regulations.

Meanwhile, motorists have expressed concern over the rising cost of petrol and called on the Federal Government to take steps to stabilise prices.
