The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has sealed several shops and business premises at the Trade Fair Complex in Ojo, Lagos State, over the alleged sale and distribution of unregistered cosmetic products.
The enforcement operation was carried out by NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, Cosmetics Division, between August 26 and 27, 2026.
The agency disclosed the development in a statement posted on its official X account on Saturday, explaining that the exercise was aimed at removing specified unregistered cosmetics from the Nigerian market.
NAFDAC said its officials visited several businesses within the complex and identified products suspected to have been marketed without the required regulatory approval.
“The affected premises were locked and placed under NAFDAC HOLD labels pending further regulatory action,” the agency stated.
Samples of the suspected products were also taken by the enforcement team for further investigation, according to the agency.
NAFDAC said the owners and operators of the affected businesses had been issued invitation letters to appear before the agency for questioning and other necessary regulatory proceedings.
Among the premises sealed were Vincentmo World, located opposite Bmeck Plaza at Private Plaza; Amazon City of Fragrance at Shops 37 and 38, Beauty Promise Land Plaza; and Aza-King Store Perfumes, opposite Fidelity Bank.
Others included PP2 & Fragrance Int’l Ltd., Design Perfumes & Cosmetics; No. D12 Fragrance Doctor Shop at Abia Plaza; and God & Obaino Fragrance Store, opposite Wave Plaza.
The agency added that additional shops and business premises within the Trade Fair Complex were also affected by the operation.
The Trade Fair Complex, situated along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, is one of Lagos’ major commercial centres, with businesses dealing in cosmetics, perfumes, fragrances and other imported consumer goods.
The latest enforcement action is part of NAFDAC’s efforts to prevent unregistered cosmetic products from reaching consumers and to ensure that products sold in Nigeria comply with prescribed safety and registration requirements.
The agency urged businesses involved in the manufacture, importation, distribution and sale of cosmetics to comply with regulatory requirements to avoid sanctions.
