Nigeria’s U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, will face Poland and South Korea in their final preparatory matches ahead of the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
The Falconets have settled into their training camp in Trzebnica, Poland, where they have stepped up preparations for the tournament under head coach Moses Aduku.
The team began training at the Stadion Miejski, Fair Play Arena, on Wednesday after arriving in Poland a day earlier.
The sessions have focused on tactical organisation, technical improvement, physical fitness and building team cohesion.
Nigeria will take on hosts Poland on Friday, August 28, at the Municipal Stadium in Brzeg, with kick-off scheduled for 12 noon local time.
The Falconets will then meet South Korea on Tuesday, September 1, at the Remes Resort & Spa Football Stadium, with the game starting at 4pm local time.
The two friendlies will give Aduku and his technical crew an opportunity to assess the squad, test different tactical approaches and expose the players to varying styles before the World Cup begins.
Captain Joy Igbokwe and defender Faridat Abdulwahab will miss the tournament after failing to secure visas.
They have been replaced in the squad by Vivian Kachi and Alaba Olabiyi.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group F alongside former champions Spain, China PR and New Caledonia.
The Falconets will open their campaign against Spain on September 7, before taking on China PR on September 10 and New Caledonia on September 13.
The Falconets have finished runners-up at the U20 Women’s World Cup twice, in 2010 and 2014.
They will be hoping to go one step further in Poland and claim Nigeria’s first title in the competition.
