Gospel singer Neon Adejo denies alleged affair with David Martins’ wife

Gospel musician, Neon Adejo, has rejected allegations that he was romantically involved with Alicia Daniella, the estranged wife of celebrity photographer David Martins, saying his contact with her was motivated by concern for her welfare.

The allegation surfaced after Martins published screenshots of private WhatsApp exchanges between Adejo and Alicia.

Martins alleged that the conversations crossed the boundaries of friendship, pointing to messages in which Adejo reportedly sent her ₦150,000, asked her to send a selfie and suggested that his wife would not have access to their conversations.

Adejo, however, has strongly disputed that interpretation, insisting that he was attempting to help a woman he believed was going through a difficult period. He also said his wife knew about his interactions with Alicia.

Responding to Martins, Adejo wrote, “Dear Mr. Aesthetics Online, Everybody is not like you. I would never take advantage of a woman in a vulnerable state. How low is it to tell the world that you put your wife in a vulnerable state and were still being intimate with her?”

The singer said his decision to support Alicia followed reports that she was experiencing domestic abuse during her marriage to Martins.

Alicia had previously accused Martins of physical, verbal and psychological abuse, including an alleged incident involving their infant son.

Adejo explained that he felt compelled to intervene rather than ignore what he believed was a woman and child in distress.

“I literally became a man responsible for two sons because I couldn’t watch a woman and a child struggle and do nothing. Shame on you for trying to manipulate this situation and paint me in a bad light. Own your actions. Seek help,” he added.

According to Adejo, the selfie request cited by Martins came after he had helped arrange for a friend to style Alicia’s hair.

He maintained that his visits were limited to checking on her wellbeing and that his wife was aware of them.

“My wife was aware of everything and I will not stand by a man that beats his wife,” he stated.

The controversy has unfolded against the backdrop of a bitter public dispute between Martins and Alicia, with both parties making competing allegations about their marriage.

Martins, who said he regarded Adejo as a friend, accused the singer of becoming involved in his marital problems and encouraging Alicia to take their private disputes to blogs.

He also alleged that Adejo had threatened to confront him over the matter.

Martins has denied Alicia’s accusations of domestic violence, maintaining that he was instead subjected to violence and emotional manipulation during their relationship.

He further alleged that Alicia was unfaithful and said the conversations with Adejo formed part of the evidence he possessed.

Alicia had reportedly taken her allegations to the Lagos Police Gender Unit and contacted the US and Canadian embassies.

The dispute has also attracted claims from other women, including allegations of sexual violence involving a minor, although such allegations remain contested.

Adejo, who recently won the Best Inspirational Single category at the 16th Headies Awards, is known for his Afro-worship sound. He is married and has a child.
