FULL LIST: Man Utd top Community Shield winners with 21 titles

Manchester United remain the most successful club in Community Shield history, having lifted the traditional curtain-raiser trophy 21 times.

Arsenal occupy second place on the all-time list with 17 titles, while Liverpool are third with 16 victories.

The figures come ahead of Sunday’s 2026 Community Shield clash between Arsenal and Manchester City at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

United’s 21 triumphs leave them four titles ahead of Arsenal and five clear of Liverpool.

Manchester City, meanwhile, will be aiming to claim their eighth Community Shield trophy after securing the FA Cup.

Established in 1908, the Community Shield is traditionally contested between the Premier League champions and FA Cup winners.

When one club wins both competitions, the Premier League runners-up take the other place in the fixture.

Several other English clubs have also won the competition.

Burnley and Leeds United have three titles each, while Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion have two apiece.

Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Blackburn Rovers, Huddersfield Town, Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Bolton Wanderers, Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Portsmouth, West Ham United and Aston Villa have each recorded at least one triumph.

Portsmouth, West Ham United and Aston Villa are among the clubs whose titles were shared following draws.

Before 1993, the FA Community Shield, then known as the Charity Shield, did not use penalty shootouts to decide drawn matches.

Instead, when a game ended level after 90 minutes, the trophy was shared by both teams.
