Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle, relieving the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Toyin Balogun, of her appointment and naming Faosat Sanni as her replacement with immediate effect.
The development was announced on Wednesday in a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
According to the statement, the reshuffle includes the redeployment of Sanni to head the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion.
“The governor has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, which saw the redeployment of Faosat Sanni to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion. Sanni takes over from Toyin Balogun, who has been relieved of her appointment. The redeployment takes immediate effect,” the statement read.
Governor Makinde expressed appreciation to Balogun for her service to the state and wished her success in her future endeavours.
Sanni is returning to a familiar role, having previously served as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion between 2019 and 2023. She was later moved to the Ministry of Special Duties before her most recent posting to the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperative.
The latest cabinet adjustment comes a day after the governor forwarded the name of Permanent Secretary, General Administration, Olabode Ladipo, to the Oyo State House of Assembly for confirmation as a commissioner.
Makinde also approved the appointment of Ifeoluwa Akande as Chairman of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport Upgrade Committee, Isola Adekunle as Executive Adviser on Intra-Party Affairs, and Oladejo Oladokun as a Part-Time Member of the Local Government Service Commission.
In a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi, the appointments were confirmed to take effect from July 1, 2026.
“The appointments take immediate effect from July 1, 2026,” the letter stated.
The governor congratulated the newly appointed officials and urged them to approach their responsibilities with dedication, loyalty and a commitment to effective service delivery.
The latest changes follow an earlier cabinet reshuffle announced in January 2026, during which Makinde replaced the Secretary to the State Government, Olanike Adeyemo, with Musibau Babatunde.
At the time, Barrister Temilolu Ashamu was redeployed from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
The January reshuffle also saw the appointment of Ademola Aderinto as commissioner-designate, Abiodun Adedoja as Special Adviser on Energy Security, and Kolawole Elijah Akanmu as Senior Special Assistant on Budget and Economic Planning.
