World Cup: Portugal, Colombia share points, reach knockouts

Portugal and Colombia played out a goalless draw in their final Group K match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Miami, with the result securing both teams’ places in the knockout stage.

Colombia, who topped the group with seven points, came closest to breaking the deadlock late in stoppage time when Davinson Sánchez headed home from a set-piece. However, celebrations were cut short after a tight offside decision ruled out the goal.

The stalemate marked the first 0-0 draw in Colombia’s FIFA World Cup history. Portugal, led by captain Cristiano Ronaldo, finished second in the group on five points.

Elsewhere in Group K, DR Congo defeated Uzbekistan 3-1 to finish third and secure a historic first qualification for the World Cup knockout rounds, while Uzbekistan ended their campaign at the bottom of the standings.
