The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and prosecuted a man identified as Emeka Joseph over an alleged case of domestic violence and assault that left a woman injured.
The arrest followed the circulation of a viral video alleging that Joseph physically assaulted Ezeka Chisom.
In a statement released by the command, police said preliminary investigations showed that the victim was attacked by the suspect, with whom she had been living.
“The victim sustained visible injuries to her face as a result of the assault,” the statement said.
According to the police, the suspect has been arraigned before a court and subsequently remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.
“The case has been adjourned until August 3, 2026, for continuation of hearing,” the command added.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling domestic violence and protecting vulnerable persons.
“The Lagos State Police Command maintains zero tolerance for all forms of domestic violence and abuse. We will continue to ensure that such cases receive prompt attention and that perpetrators are brought to justice,” he said.
Fatai also urged residents to report cases of domestic violence and other criminal activities to the nearest police station or security formation for immediate intervention.
