Tinubu hails Kumuyi at 85

President Bola Tinubu has commended the founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, describing him as a devoted servant of God whose steadfast faith and lifelong commitment have built one of Nigeria’s most influential Christian movements over the past five decades.

In a statement signed on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President felicitated Kumuyi on his 85th birthday.

Tinubu highlighted the global reach and influence of the cleric, saying his ministry has continued to inspire believers well beyond Nigeria’s borders.

“As the convener of Global Crusade with Kumuyi, your voice has reached beyond the church walls and national borders, bringing hope and encouragement to millions across the world.

“Your writings have illuminated minds, inspired hearts, and provided timeless guidance to those seeking truth and purpose,” Tinubu said.

He further stressed the wide-ranging impact of Kumuyi’s work on families and leadership across generations.

The President noted, “Your ministry and influence have transformed lives, restored families, inspired leaders, and strengthened the faith of generations of believers.”

Praying for continued strength and wellbeing for the cleric, Tinubu added, “On this special day, I pray that Almighty God continues to grant you strength, divine health, peace, and abundant grace.”

Born on June 6, 1941, in Erin-Ijesha, Osun State, Kumuyi founded the Deeper Life Bible Church in 1973 as a campus fellowship at the University of Lagos, where he worked as a mathematics lecturer at the time.

Over the years, the ministry has expanded into one of Africa’s largest Pentecostal churches, with branches in more than 150 countries.

Kumuyi, known for his strict doctrinal teachings, evangelistic passion, and disciplined lifestyle, remains one of the most influential figures in global Christianity.
