Osimhen not for sale, says Galatasaray President

The Galatasaray president, Dursun Özbek, has moved to shut down speculation over the future of Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen, insisting there is no change in the club’s stance despite increasing transfer rumours linking him away from Galatasaray S.K..

Osimhen has recently been linked with a summer switch to Spanish giants Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Osimhen not for sale
Özbek was firm that the Turkish Super Lig champions have no intention of entertaining offers for the striker.

“We are not considering selling Osimhen. Osimhen is an important player for Galatasaray, Ozbek told HT Spor

“We are not considering selling an important player in our championship race. Putting a price on someone you don’t intend to sell is like counting your chickens before they hatch. We don’t have such a thing in mind.

“Osimhen is making the second-generation Galatasaray fans happy.”

The 27-year-old initially arrived at Galatasaray on loan from S.S.C. Napoli in 2024, before the deal was made permanent the following summer.

He went on to enjoy a prolific campaign, scoring 26 goals and providing four assists in 30 league matches as Okan Buruk’s side secured a domestic double in the 2024/25 season.

The striker also finished as the league’s top scorer, further strengthening his reputation as one of the most dangerous forwards in world football.

Across all competitions this season, Osimhen has recorded 22 goals and eight assists in 33 appearances, playing a key role as Galatasaray retained the Süper Lig title and reached the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Return to international scene
The former Lille forward has been included in the Nigeria national football team squad for next month’s international friendlies against Poland and Portugal, named by head coach Éric Chelle earlier this week.

It marks his return to international duty after missing Nigeria’s friendlies against Iran and Jordan in March.
