Venus Williams returns in doubles event at French Open

Veteran American tennis star, Venus Williams, has confirmed she will return to action in the doubles event at the French Open later this month.

The seven-time Grand Slam singles champion will team up with fellow American Hailey Baptiste at Roland Garros, with the clay-court tournament set to begin on May 24 in Paris.

However, Williams will not participate in the singles category of the competition.

The former World No. 1 last featured at the Australian Open as a wildcard entrant, where she suffered a first-round defeat to Serbia’s Olga Danilovic in a three-set encounter.
