U-20 WWCQ: Falconets coach Aduku expects easier Malawi clash

Nigeria’s Nigeria women’s national under-20 football team head coach, Moses Aduku, has expressed confidence ahead of the second leg of their 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Malawi, insisting the return fixture will be less difficult for his side than the first encounter.

The Falconets head into the decisive clash with a 2–0 advantage and will face the Malawian side on Saturday, May 9, in Malawi.

The winner over both legs will secure qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Poland from September 5 to 27.

Aduku, speaking ahead of the game, said his team will stick to an attacking approach, noting that Malawi will be compelled to play more openly in the return leg, which could create more opportunities for Nigeria.

“We will not go defensive rather we will take the game to them to see if we can get goal and I know my girls can do that. We know the opponent will not sit back, they will come out to play.

“Definitely I think it will be easier in Malawi because if they sit back and we are able to create chances like this (in the first leg), we lost a lot of scoring chances now they will come out to play and definitely we will have chances to score and I think our defence is it bad and our goalkeeper is not that bad so we are on course.”

Nigeria’s Falconets have maintained a flawless record of qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, while Malawi will be targeting a historic first appearance at the global tournament.
