Israel Adesanya vows comeback despite four-fight winless run

Former two-time middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, is refusing to retire despite suffering his fourth consecutive loss at UFC Seattle.

The 36-year-old fighter faced a second-round knockout at the hands of Joe Pyfer, extending his winless streak inside the Octagon to three years.

After the fight, Adesanya addressed his fans on Instagram, acknowledging the difficulty of watching his struggles.

“I know it’s hard on my people seeing me fall. I promise you it’s harder on me. Regardless, we respawn and go again. 🎲🎲” The message underscored his determination to keep fighting and rebuild his career, even amid setbacks.

Observers have noted that Adesanya may need to adjust his approach as he continues competing. “Adesanya should focus more on defence at his age if he wants to continue. His reflexes are no longer as sharp as before and he doesn’t have super knock out power.

Any opponent at this stage will give him a real challenge,” one analyst said. Others cautioned against unnecessarily prolonging a fighter’s career.

“It’s a shame that fighters don’t look at history and see what’s going to happen to them. So many great careers have a bunch of unnecessary losses at the end that were entirely avoidable,” another comment read.

One more perspective highlighted the toll aging takes on elite fighters, “He’s not the fighter he was, because getting older takes that spark away from you. To be able to be a top contender past age 35 will make you an early retirement with Parkinsons at age 45.”

Despite the growing concerns, Adesanya has admitted that reclaiming a title is no longer his primary motivation.

Instead, he is focused on performing in the sport he loves. His Instagram post serves as a reminder of his resilience and refusal to quit, reinforcing his commitment to continue his journey inside the Octagon.
