Passengers injured as Abuja –Kaduna train incident disrupts journey

Several passengers sustained injuries on Monday after a train operating on the Abuja–Kaduna rail corridor was involved in an incident that disrupted its journey to Abuja.

The train, travelling from Kaduna to Abuja, was forced to stop midway following the disruption along the busy rail line.

Passengers on board said the incident occurred suddenly, causing panic inside the coaches as the train came to an abrupt halt.

Some travellers reported hearing a loud bang before the train jolted violently, throwing several passengers off their seats and causing injuries.

A passenger, Sada Malumfashi, who shared his experience on social media, said the train remained stationary for about 30 minutes before it slowly resumed movement toward Kubwa on the outskirts of Abuja.

“We heard a loud bang and the train jolted to a stop, flinging people across. Some passengers were injured and bleeding,” he said.

Reacting to the development, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Callistus Unyimadu, confirmed the incident and said an official statement would be released.
