Galatasaray have decided to rest Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen for tonight’s Turkish Cup clash with Alanyaspor.
The Yellow and Reds confirmed in a statement that Osimhen is among several key players omitted from the squad to undergo “active rest.”
“Uğurcan Çakır, Davinson Sanchez, Abdülkerim Bardakcı, Victor Osimhen, and Mario Lemina, who are undergoing special training for active rest, as well as Roland Sallai, Yunus Akgün, and Mauro Icardi, who have minor aches and are being left out of the squad, are not included in the team for the Corendon Alanyaspor match in the Ziraat Türkiye Cup,” the club stated on their official website.
The Nigeria international recently scored and provided an assist against the same opponent in a Turkish Super Lig clash last weekend.
Galatasaray face a busy run of fixtures, with six matches scheduled in just 19 days, including a two-legged UEFA Champions League tie against Liverpool.
Osimhen is expected back in action when Galatasaray host Besiktas in the Istanbul derby this weekend.
The 27-year-old has tallied 17 goals and six assists in 25 appearances across all competitions this season.
