Sanwo-Olu backs Disu to reform police force

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has voiced strong confidence in the capacity of the newly appointed acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to deliver a professional and accountable police force that meets the expectations of Nigerians.

The governor described Disu’s elevation by Bola Tinubu as both merited and a source of pride for Lagos State.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu commended the acting IGP’s track record, citing his professionalism, competence, and decades of dedicated service in the Nigerian Police Force.

“I congratulate Mr. Olatunji Disu on his appointment as the Acting Inspector General of Police. His elevation to the position of number one police officer in Nigeria is an honour done to us in Lagos State,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor further pointed to Disu’s distinguished service across multiple commands, formations, and departments nationwide.

He made particular reference to his time as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, widely known as the ‘Good Boys,’ in Lagos State.

“Having worked at state, national, and international levels, I am confident that Disu will bring his wealth of experience, garnered over three decades, to bear on his new assignment and meet the expectations of Nigerians for a competent, accountable, transparent, courageous, and trustworthy police force,” the governor added.
