Operation Fansan Yamma has reported a major success, neutralizing two bandits and rescuing 62 abducted individuals during coordinated operations across Kebbi and Zamfara States.
In a statement to journalists, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations for the 8 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma, said the missions were carried out in collaboration with allied security forces and local vigilantes.
“In Kebbi State, the troops ambushed members of the Lakurawa terrorist group near the border between Augie and Binji Local Government Areas, killing two terrorists and recovering two motorcycles used by the insurgents,” Osoba stated.
He noted that the terrorists were dressed in camouflage uniforms, and the motorcycles had been padded with thick blankets and fitted with equipment for long-range movement.
Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, troops launched an operation in Munhaye forest, a known hideout of the notorious bandit leader Kachalla Alti, successfully rescuing 62 kidnapped victims.
The statement confirmed that the rescued individuals are now in safe custody, with efforts ongoing to reunite them with their families.
“The operations underscore the relentless efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and its partners to dismantle terrorist networks, restore security, and protect lives in the region,” Osoba emphasized.
He added that the Nigerian Army remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding citizens.
“The operation is part of the military’s broader efforts to combat banditry and terrorism in the North West region,” Osoba concluded..
