Nigeria’s Falconets are aiming for a commanding result when they face Senegal in the first leg of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup third qualifying round.
The clash is scheduled for tonight at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, with kick-off set for 4pm.
Renowned for their consistency at youth level, the Falconets will now face one of their toughest challenges in the qualifiers, coming up against a Senegalese side known for their goal-scoring prowess.
In the previous round, Moses Aduku’s team overcame Rwanda 4-0 on aggregate, winning 1-0 in Kigali before sealing a 3-0 victory at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasinga, Ibadan.
Senegal, on the other hand, made a statement by defeating Algeria 6-0 on aggregate to advance to this stage.
Aduku emphasized the importance of a strong home performance.
“It is important for us not only to win, but with a big margin. We are playing at home, and it is important for us take advantage of this,” he said.
He also highlighted the challenges ahead in the return leg noting, “We know we are still going away to play them, and it could be a bit difficult if we don’t get a good win here.”
