Bayer Leverkusen booked a place in the German Cup semifinals for a third consecutive season with a commanding 3-0 victory over St. Pauli on Tuesday.
Martin Terrier broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute with a fine strike from outside the box, before Patrik Schick made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute, volleying in at the far post.
Jonas Hofmann sealed the win deep into stoppage time, finishing off a swift counterattack.
Leverkusen lifted the trophy in the 2023/24 season during their historic unbeaten domestic run, but were stopped at the semifinal stage last term.
In the remaining quarterfinal fixtures, holders Stuttgart travel to second-division Holstein Kiel on Wednesday, while next week sees Hertha Berlin host Freiburg and Bayern Munich take on RB Leipzig.
