The first-leg clash of the third qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup between Nigeria’s Falconets and Senegal will now be staged at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.
The Confederation of African Football has approved the venue change following a formal request from the Nigeria Football Federation.
According to the NFF’s Director of Competitions, Ruth David, the federation opted for a new venue due to the poor condition of the playing surface at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, which had initially been cleared to host the fixture.
The Ibadan stadium previously hosted the Falconets during their second-round, second-leg encounter against Rwanda’s U-20 side in September last year.
With the switch confirmed, the Falconets, who have been camped in Ibadan, are expected to move to Abeokuta in the coming days to acclimatize to the pitch at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena.
The match is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026.
The winner of the Nigeria-Senegal tie will advance to the final qualifying round, where they will face either Guinea-Bissau or Malawi for a spot at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in Poland from September 5 to 27.
