DJ Cuppy takes social media break to focus on faith

Popular Nigerian disc jockey and philanthropist, Florence Otedola, widely known as DJ Cuppy, has announced a temporary break from social media to focus on her spiritual life and personal well-being.

The entertainer made the announcement on Monday via a post on her X (formerly Twitter) account, explaining that the decision was driven by a need for quiet reflection and a deeper connection with God.

“Never done this before, but I’m taking a short break from social media,” Cuppy wrote. “I need some quiet time with myself and time being hidden with God. I’m okay and just taking a moment to reset and reconnect. I’ll be back.”

Cuppy, the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has in recent years openly shared aspects of her Christian faith journey, describing the break as a necessary pause for spiritual and emotional renewal.

In a New Year message shared on January 1, the DJ reflected on the challenges of the past year, describing it as particularly difficult while expressing renewed trust in God as 2026 begins.

“It has been a hard year, and these last days have been the toughest, but I am choosing to trust that God still has a plan,” she said. “As we step into 2026, tell people how much they mean to you. Say it while you can.”

The announcement follows a series of personal and faith-related milestones for the entertainer. In August 2024, DJ Cuppy publicly rededicated her life to God and was baptised, marking a significant spiritual turning point.

She has also spoken openly about relationships and marriage. In a post shared in September 2025, she described marriage as a profound commitment.

“Call me old school, but I see marriage as the most powerful partnership in life,” she wrote. “Maybe even the most important contract you will ever sign, with God Himself as the witness.”

DJ Cuppy’s social media break has since drawn reactions from fans and followers, many of whom have expressed support for her decision to prioritise faith and self-care.
