Kogi State Government has reaffirmed his administration’s firm stance against Insecurity: We won’t negotiation with criminals, says Kogi govtnegotiating with criminals as insecurity continues to escalate in Kogi State.
The government maintains that it possesses the necessary strength and strategy to confront rising threats.
Kogi, one of the North-Central states facing renewed waves of violent attacks, has recorded multiple abductions in recent weeks
Just last week, armed bandits struck twice in Yagba East Local Government Area, though security forces later rescued five victims. Another incident followed on Sunday in Yagba West, where a pastor and his wife were seized during a church service.
Appearing on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, reiterated the government’s uncompromising approach.
“In Kogi State, we don’t negotiate. The governor has made it clear that he will not bow to any criminal. We have the capacity to take them out, we have the capacity to deal with the situation, so we are not going to negotiate with any of them,” Fanwo said.
He further explained that the government remains committed to tough security measures despite the consequences of recent confrontations.
“We regret that in the exchange of fire between the kidnappers and security agencies, two people lost their lives. But many of the criminals now know that Kogi is a no-go area for them. We did not negotiate with any criminal, and we are not interested in doing so,” he added.
The Commissioner assured that the state will keep mobilizing all available security assets to pursue, combat, and eliminate criminal networks across Kogi.q
