The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has issued a warning to Nigerians to be wary of fake posters circulating on social media, alerting the public that fraudsters are impersonating the Commission to deceive unsuspecting citizens.
In a statement shared on its official X account on Wednesday, the Commission disclosed that the misleading materials are being distributed under the name Warri Centre for Communities Law and wrongfully bear the FCCPC’s logo.
According to the agency, the posters were neither produced nor approved by the Commission, describing them as a calculated attempt to mislead the public.
FCCPC said, “The attached posters currently circulating under the name Warri Centre for Communities Law (WCLC) and displaying the Commission’s logo are fraudulent and unauthorised.
“These materials did not originate from the FCCPC and should be disregarded entirely. Any unauthorised use of the Commission’s name, logo, or insignia amounts to impersonation and misrepresentation.”
The FCCPC urged Nigerians to ignore such deceptive publications and ensure that any consumer-related inquiries or complaints are directed only through its verified communication channels, such as its official website, email, and complaints portal.
