The Olowu of Kuta, Oba Hammeed Makama Oyelude, Tegbosun III, of Kuta in Osun State, has called on Nigerians to embrace patriotism and unity in order to safeguard the nation and overcome the threat of terrorism.
Speaking during the 35th edition of the Kuta Day celebration held in Osun State on Saturday, the monarch emphasized the importance of collective effort in addressing the nation’s security challenges.
“It is imperative to speak with one voice and unite to protect the country and defeat the terrorists once and for all,” he said.
Oba Oyelude urged Nigerians to set aside political differences and work together for the nation’s progress. “Irrespective of political leaning and affiliation, this is the time to show our patriotic zeal. We must all bear in mind that we must have the country first before thinking of any ambition,” he added.
The traditional ruler also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to further motivate the armed forces, while calling on the newly appointed Service Chiefs to act swiftly and decisively in neutralising terrorist groups.
“Your appointment is coming at the defining moment in our chequered history. I urge the service chiefs to be conscious of the fact that all resources, both human capital and equipment, must be put to the best use now to end the insurgency,” he stated.
Oba Oyelude further appealed to former U.S. President Donald Trump to assist Nigeria by providing actionable intelligence and platforms that could help bring the insurgency to an end.
