Former Chelsea and West Ham boss, Graham Potter, has been officially appointed as the new head coach of the Sweden national team, following the dismissal of Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Tomasson’s exit came after Sweden’s disappointing 0–1 home loss to Kosovo in their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
Speaking after his appointment, Potter expressed both pride and enthusiasm about taking on the role.
“I am very honored by the task, but also incredibly inspired,” he said.
“Sweden has fantastic players who deliver in the world’s best leagues week after week.
“My task will be to create the right conditions so that we as a team can perform at the highest level and lead Sweden to the World Cup next summer.”
Potter’s connection with Swedish football runs deep, he previously enjoyed a “transformative spell at Östersunds FK,” where his success first drew international attention.
