Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, will have to make do without two of his dependable players, Yohan Roche and Sessi D’Almeida, when the Cheetahs face Nigeria in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter.
Both players picked up yellow cards during Benin’s hard-fought 1–0 victory over Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday night, their second bookings of the qualifying campaign, ruling them out of the next match through suspension.
Roche was cautioned in stoppage time for time-wasting, while D’Almeida received his booking in the 84th minute.
The Cheetahs will now travel to Uyo for their decisive clash against the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium next Tuesday.
Rohr’s men currently lead Group C with 17 points from nine matches as the race for a World Cup ticket intensifies.
