Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke,, have freed two personnel of the Nigerian Immigration Service who were abducted in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
The rescue, according to a statement released on Friday by the Acting Media Information Officer of the force, Lt. Ahmad Zubairu, was carried out on September 26, 2025, after actionable intelligence was received from relevant authorities.
The kidnapped officers, identified as David Iorwuese James and Orasuur Oliver, were taken in Ukum LGA but were later traced by troops to Tse Tembe and Adamawa Village in Azendeshi Council Ward.
“The troops acted promptly and launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation. The two officers were successfully rescued in Adamawa Village after the kidnappers fled,” Zubairu said. He further confirmed that both victims are in stable condition and are undergoing medical examinations and debriefing.
Commending the troops, Force Commander Maj. Gen. Moses Gara described the operation as proof of the task force’s resolve to act decisively against criminality.
He said the successful mission “underscores the determination of OPWS to respond swiftly to distress calls, protect citizens, and secure farmlands to enhance food security in Benue and neighbouring states.”
Gara also urged community members to maintain their partnership with security operatives by sharing timely intelligence, stressing that such cooperation is vital in defeating criminal elements in the area.
