Troops intercept major terrorist suppliers in Yobe

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, under Operation HADIN KAI have intercepted a significant cache of supplies destined for terrorist groups in Yobe State, marking a major victory in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

Media Information Officer for JTF North East, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, revealed that acting on credible intelligence, troops carrying out Operation DESERT SANITY IV conducted a routine checkpoint along the Nguru–Gashua road on 16 September 2025 at approximately 7:40 a.m., where they stopped a red 14-tyre trailer carrying suspicious cargo.

“The vehicle was moved to a secure location and carefully offloaded,” Lt. Col. Uba explained. Upon inspection later that day around 9:00 p.m., troops discovered 700 bags of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer, commonly used in IED production, alongside 27 cartons of assorted drugs and nine cartons of normal saline solution, all hidden beneath bundles of fabrics.

Investigations revealed that the consignment was reportedly intended for transport to the Niger Republic, highlighting ongoing cross-border terrorist supply networks.

Lt. Col. Uba also noted that earlier the same day, troops had intercepted two Sharon vehicles and another trailer carrying large quantities of fabrics and solar panels.

“Intelligence suggests the fabrics were intended for making uniforms for terrorist fighters,” he added.

All drivers, motor boys, and the recovered materials remain in custody as investigations continue. Lt. Col. Uba reassured the public that the JTF remains steadfast in disrupting all supply chains supporting terrorist activities in the region.
