Osimhen remains injured, to miss Galatasaray, Frankfurt UCL clash – Coach

Galatasaray head coach, Okan Buruk, has confirmed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is still not ready for competitive action as he continues his recovery from injury.

Osimhen, who picked up the knock while on international duty with the Super Eagles two weeks ago, was unavailable for the Yellow and Reds’ 2-0 league win over Eyupspor last weekend.

The 27-year-old will also play no part in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter against Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Buruk explained that the medical team and the player agreed he was not yet fit enough to feature.

“Osimhen has been working hard in training, but the feedback we got from him was that he still doesn’t feel ready,” the coach revealed. “He wanted to push himself, but playing through pain would not help him or the team.”

Buruk emphasized that the health of his squad remains a priority, adding that Osimhen’s fighting spirit is never in doubt.

“He’s the kind of player who always wants to give everything, even when he’s not 100 percent. But we chose not to risk him after discussions with the doctors. We have other strong attacking options, and we’ll give our best as a team.”
