Bayern Munich boss, Vincent Kompany, believes the club will soon unlock the full potential of Nicolas Jackson following his loan arrival from Chelsea.
Jackson completed a season-long loan switch to the Bundesliga champions despite the move nearly collapsing after summer signing Liam Delap suffered an injury.
The Senegalese forward, who had already arrived in Germany, was initially asked to return to England before both clubs finalized the deal.
Now set for his debut against Hamburger SV at the Allianz Arena, Kompany used his pre-match press conference on Friday to back the 23-year-old striker to settle quickly.
“The first phase is important for him, up to the next international break. He didn’t really have a pre-season with Chelsea,” Kompany explained.
Bayern, who will face Chelsea in the Champions League later this season, are keen to see Jackson hit the ground running as they look to continue their winning momentum.
The forward featured for 90 minutes during the international break, something Kompany believes will accelerate his progress.
“He played 90 minutes during the break. He’s an athlete by nature and won’t need long to get to 100 percent. We need to make sure that we build up his rhythm,” the former Manchester City captain added.
“He’s a guy with lots of quality, has scored goals in the English Premier League. I think we’ll quickly be able to get the best out of his qualities.”
The reigning FIFA Club World Cup holders will also be looking to extend their dominance over Chelsea, having won their last three meetings, when the sides clash again in Europe.
