Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, has officially joined Bundesliga side Werder Bremen on a loan deal.
The 24-year-old forward completed his medical and other formalities, with the arrangement expected to run until June 2026, and part of his wages reportedly covered by Bremen.
Boniface, who joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2023, played a pivotal role in their Bundesliga-winning campaign, earning praise for his physicality, sharp link-up play, and clinical finishing.
Werder Bremen head coach, Horst Steffen, expressed confidence in the new signing, saying, “I’m certain he can be a very important factor for us this season.”
The transfer comes after several high-profile moves for Boniface fell through. Earlier this year, Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr reportedly offered €70 million ($81 million) for his services, but the deal collapsed after they opted to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa.
In August, a potential move to AC Milan also failed due to Boniface allegedly not passing a medical, despite agreements being reached with Leverkusen.
Boniface is among a string of departures from Leverkusen this transfer window, following the exits of Florian Wirtz, Granit Xhaka, Jonathan Tah, Jeremie Frimpong, and coach Xabi Alonso.
