Beware of fake police recruitment, PSC warns Nigerians

The Police Service Commission has cautioned Nigerians to disregard online advertisements claiming that recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force has begun, describing them as fake and misleading.

In a statement issued on Saturday, PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani stressed that the Commission has not yet commenced the 2025 recruitment exercise and urged prospective applicants to remain vigilant.

“The Commission wishes to disown an online advertorial on the commencement of the exercise, which obviously is fictitious and diversionary,” Ani said.

He noted that the Commission had consistently appealed to young Nigerians aspiring to join the Force to be patient and await an official announcement.

“The Commission has repeatedly appealed to interested Nigerian youths to exercise patience and allow due process in the forthcoming recruitment exercise, which will soon commence with the official footprint of the Commission,” he explained.

Ani also clarified that the fake notices currently in circulation do not reflect the PSC’s official communication.

“The current online advertorial is not from the Commission and does not in any way represent the character or the content of the Commission’s statement announcing the commencement of such exercises,” he said.

He further warned those behind the fraudulent adverts to desist from deceiving unsuspecting job seekers.

“For the umpteenth time, the Commission wishes to warn these disgruntled characters to stay away from this dubious pastime and allow the Commission to run the exercise in a manner devoid of unnecessary interference,” he warned.

Reassuring Nigerians, Ani emphasized that the recruitment process would begin soon under strict supervision.

“Prospective Nigerians interested in a career in the Nigeria Police Force are advised to exercise some patience as the Commission concludes arrangements for the commencement of the 2025 recruitment exercise,” he stated.

He added that the PSC is committed to fairness and integrity in the process.
