Madagascar have booked a historic place in the Africa Nations Championship final, where they will take on Morocco in Nairobi on August 30.

The island nation stunned Sudan 1-0 after extra time in Tuesday’s semi-final to reach their first-ever final at the competition.

Rakotondraibe emerged as the match-winner, striking four minutes from the end of extra time despite Madagascar being reduced to 10 men with 11 minutes left on the clock.

Earlier in the day, Morocco had to dig deep to edge defending champions Senegal on penalties.

The Senegalese drew first blood in the 16th minute through Layousse, but Morocco responded swiftly, with Sabir Bougrine levelling just seven minutes later.

With no further goals in regulation and extra time, the tie was settled from the spot, where Morocco prevailed 5-3.

The Atlas Lions will now chase a record-extending third CHAN crown, having lifted the trophy on home soil in 2018 before retaining it in 2020.

Meanwhile, Senegal and Sudan will contest the third-place playoff on August 29.
