I have moved on, Benue ex-Speaker speaks after resignation

Former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, has expressed gratitude to his colleagues, constituents, and supporters following his resignation from office.

Dajoh, who stepped down on Sunday amid reports of a possible impeachment plot, took to his official Facebook page on Monday to pen an appreciation message, stressing that he has “moved on” and urging for peace in the state.

“I have moved on,” the former Speaker wrote. “I want to specially appreciate my constituents of Gboko West (Gbemacha) that first voted for me as a member of the 10th Benue Assembly. I am eternally grateful to them.”

Dajoh, who became the first Speaker of the 10th Assembly, also acknowledged his colleagues in the House for standing by him. “I appreciate my dear colleagues who voted me in … and gave me the needed support to the very last day in office,” he said.

He commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for his support during his tenure, as well as his aides and Assembly staff for their contributions. “Your technical support is well appreciated,” Dajoh noted.

In a personal tone, the ex-Speaker praised his wife, Kundumiyol Dajoh, for what he described as “the best example of a supportive wife.” He added, “She gave me the desired love and support while in office. I appreciate all my family members too.”

Above all, he attributed his journey to divine grace. “Finally, and above all, my thanks go to the Almighty God, the maker and giver of all things. I thank you, God, for the good health, wisdom, and grace. May your name be praised both now and forever.”

He urged residents of the state to embrace peace as the Assembly transitions to new leadership. “Let there be peace and let’s move on. The journey is still ahead,” Dajoh declared.
