Tennis star, Emma Raducanu, has said her focus is firmly on personal growth rather than chasing silverware at this stage of her career.
The 2021 US Open champion recently marked a milestone, earning a seeded spot at a WTA 1000 event for the first time in over three years.
Benefiting from a first-round bye, she began her campaign against world No. 43 Olga Danilovic of Serbia, sealing a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory.
In a post-match chat with Tennisuptodate, Raducanu made it clear that she is prioritizing steady improvement over immediate title ambitions.
“I know the time will come when I’ll be targeting big tournaments, Masters and Slams,” she said. “But right now, my goal is to get better as a player.”
Reflecting on her win over Danilovic, she admitted a shaky opening but praised her overall composure.
“Bar the first game, I was pretty mature and disciplined. I served well and knew I had to be sharp against Olga, she’s a tricky lefty with big shots.”
Raducanu’s victory was another step in her steady climb, showing a measured approach as she rebuilds her form and confidence.
