The Lagos State Government has sealed Myca 7 Court in Van Daniel Estate, off Orchid Road, Lekki, over allegations of discharging untreated sewage into public drainage channels.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the enforcement in a statement posted on his official X account on Saturday.
According to Wahab, officials from the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office carried out the operation after receiving complaints from residents about suspected pollution in the area.
“Following public outcry, and in pursuit of a safe and cleaner Lagos, the LSWMO this morning sealed Myca 7 Court, Van Daniel Estate, for deliberately discharging sewage into public drains through a pumping machine,” Wahab stated.
He described the act as “a public nuisance that endangers human health and degrades the environment,” adding that the government will not hesitate to impose sanctions or prosecute offenders found guilty of such violations.
“Every act of environmental pollution poses serious risks to public health, and we will ensure that those responsible face the appropriate penalties,” he added.
The commissioner urged residents and estate managers to adopt proper waste management practices to prevent environmental hazards.
