Colombian winger, Luis Díaz, has officially joined Bayern Munich in a deal worth £65.5 million, ending his two-year stint at Liverpool.
The 28-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Bundesliga giants, choosing Bayern over interest from Spanish heavyweights Barcelona.
Although Díaz still had two years remaining on his contract at Anfield, he had made it clear he was ready for a new challenge.
Díaz arrived at Liverpool from FC Porto in 2022, and the Reds are set to pocket a profit of around £22 million from the transfer.
His move adds to Liverpool’s growing summer revenue, which has now surpassed £130 million in player sales.
Speaking to Bayern’s official website, Díaz said, “I’m very happy, It means a lot to me to be part of FC Bayern – one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to help my new team with my style of playing football and my personality.
“My goal is to win every possible title – we will work towards that every day as a team.”
Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, hailed the club’s latest acquisition, “Luis Díaz is an internationally experienced player with tremendous quality, great skills, and great reliability. He will help our team immediately.
“We are happy that we were able to bring him to FC Bayern. Transfers like this work when everything meshes together. Our fans can look forward to an exceptional player.”
Díaz will wear the number 14 shirt at his new club.
