Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have successfully prevented coordinated terrorist attacks with the arrest of two suspects in separate operations conducted in Taraba State.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, July 17, 2025, by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 6 Brigade, the operations took place on July 16 within Wukari Local Government Area.

“Acting on credible intelligence, troops deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari arrested a 45-year-old suspected terrorist, Felix Myina, a native of Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State,” Oni stated.

Investigations revealed Myina as a high-ranking member of a notorious bandit and kidnapping syndicate operating under wanted criminal kingpin Mcianan, alias Yellow.

“The group has been a major threat to motorists and residents along the Jootar-Wukari axis,” the army spokesperson disclosed. A Tecno mobile phone was recovered from Myina during the arrest.

In a related operation, troops intercepted Abubakar Yusuf, a 26-year-old suspected Islamic State West Africa Province member from Borno State but residing in Gassol LGA. “The suspect was intercepted while performing strange rituals at the Aku-Uka Palace Junction, one of the locations identified as a likely target for ISWAP attacks,” Oni explained.

The army believes Yusuf was attempting to spiritually immobilize the town to facilitate terrorist operations. Items recovered from him included: 1 dead chicken; 9 unhatched rotten eggs; 1 animal horn; 1 bottle containing powdered substance; Pieces of fresh meat.

Both suspects are currently in military custody providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations. The successful operations demonstrate the troops’ vigilance in countering security threats across Taraba State.
