Nigerian music icon, David Adeleke, widely known by his stage name Davido, has achieved another international milestone as his fourth studio album Timeless has been awarded the prestigious Silver Certification in the United Kingdom.
This recognition comes from Chart Data, a respected source for music analytics and certifications.
The platform revealed that Timeless surpassed 100,000 units in sales across the UK, thereby qualifying for the silver plaque.
Released on March 31, 2023, the Timeless album showcases a rich blend of sounds including Afrobeats, reggae, dancehall, konto, highlife, and Afropop.
The 17-track project features a lineup of acclaimed collaborators such as Asake, Skepta, Fave, Dexta Daps, The Cavemen, and Angelique Kidjo.
The album’s impact was immediate and far-reaching, setting streaming records on platforms like Spotify Nigeria, Audiomack, Boomplay, and YouTube.
Timeless garnered international critical acclaim, earning Davido a Grammy nomination for Best Global Album. It also received a Headies nomination in the Song of the Year category.
Among the standout tracks, ‘Unavailable’ received Silver certification in the UK and a Grammy nod for Best African Song Performance.
Another fan favourite, ‘Feel’, secured a nomination for Best Global Song Performance at the Grammys.
To further promote the album, Davido launched the Timeless Tour, which took him across key cities in North America and Europe, including London, New York, Washington D.C., and Toronto.
