ICYMI: Awoniyi returns to training after life-threatening abdominal injury

Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has made a triumphant return to full training, just months after undergoing a major medical ordeal that left his football future in doubt.

The 27-year-old forward had been out of action since May after suffering a ruptured intestine, an injury that required two complex surgical procedures.

The initial operation was followed by a medically induced coma, allowing doctors to monitor him in a controlled state.

The second stage, which involved closing the abdominal wound, was successfully carried out on the third day.

After a long and difficult recovery, Awoniyi has finally rejoined his Forest teammates on the training pitch, marking a major milestone in his comeback.

The news was shared by Soar Super Eagles via their official X page on Tuesday, “Taiwo Awoniyi returns to full training after that serious abdominal injury in May. Great to see him back on the grass.”

Awoniyi’s return is not just a boost for Nottingham Forest’s preparations ahead of the new campaign but also welcome news for Nigeria as they gear up for crucial international fixtures.
