Axel Tuanzebe has filed a clinical negligence lawsuit against his former club, Manchester United, over concerns related to medical advice he received during his time at the club.
As reported by Sky Sports, the claim was officially submitted on July 9 and centers on alleged clinical mismanagement during his stint at Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old defender parted ways with Manchester United two years ago following the expiration of his contract.
A product of the club’s academy, Tuanzebe made 37 senior appearances before continuing his career elsewhere.
His tenure at United was marred by a series of injuries. It began with a hip issue sustained during the warm-up for a high-profile clash against Liverpool in 2019.
Later that year, he suffered another setback in a Carabao Cup match against Colchester United, sidelining him for the remainder of the season.
Tuanzebe’s injury struggles persisted. A foot injury kept him out of the beginning of the next campaign, and he endured another extended layoff in the early stages of the 2022/23 season.
He only returned to action in January of that term and was subsequently loaned out to Stoke City.
After leaving United, the DR Congo international found stability at Ipswich Town, where he became a regular starter.
He featured over 40 times and played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League in the 2023/24 season.
Tuanzebe recently joined Burnley on a free transfer after opting not to renew his contract with Ipswich.
