Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Monday inaugurated 16 new commissioners at The Dome (Culture and Events Centre) in Akure, charging them to prioritize good governance and align with his administration’s development agenda.

The newly sworn-in commissioners include: Idowu Ajanaku; Adewale Akinlosotu; Igbekele Ajibefun (former VC of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko); Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye; Ayodele Akande; Alabi Johnson and Amidu Takuro.

Others are: Oluwaseun Abosede Osamaye, Tob Loko, Olaolu Akindolire, Sunday Olajide, and Omoyofunmi Segun Henry, Adesoji Afolabi, Banji Awolowo Ajaka, Leye Akinola and Bode Ademuwagun.

In his inaugural address, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the event as a “significant milestone” in his administration’s constitutional duties, stating, “We acknowledge God for enabling our administration and for manifesting His hands mightily in the lives of our people.”

He defended the phased appointment process, noting, “Governance is not just about speed… Slow and steady wins the race.”

The governor urged the commissioners to hit the ground running, emphasizing their mandate to deliver on campaign promises.

“Your appointments are a testimony to your capabilities… I have confidence that you will make meaningful contributions to statecraft,” he said.

He warned against sectional interests, stressing that their responsibility covers the entire state.

Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s commitment to security, economic development, and infrastructure, citing recent approvals for anti-kidnapping laws and logistical support for security agencies.

“We distributed 50 Special High Grade Hilux vehicles to security agencies,” he revealed.

The event follows the screening and confirmation of the commissioners-designate, whose appointments were announced in batches last month.

The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, had earlier confirmed the inauguration date in a statement issued on Friday last week.

It read, “The Governor will swear in all 16 newly confirmed commissioners-designate on Monday, 14th July 2025.”

The governor concluded with a call for integrity and teamwork, urging the new cabinet members to key into the administration’s “OUR EASE” development agenda focused on education, agriculture, security, and economic growth.
