Activist Martins “VeryDarkMan” Otse has reignited his public feud with gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, accusing her of association with corrupt forces and trying to cajole him by following him on Instagram.

In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, VDM wrote: “With all due respect @mercychinwo do not think in your heart that I am those type of people, I can never on earth and after earth associate with the likes of you… take your patronage to the people that needs it, and yes I see the damage control you are doing, thanks to your friends at @officialefcc you guys should finish the job y’all started but remember GOD CANNOT BE PLAYED…”

This message marks the latest escalation in a dispute that has played out publicly over several months. In February, VDM accused Mercy Chinwo of diverting royalties from her former record label, EeZee Conceptz, claiming she withheld over $345,000.

Mercy responded with a ₦1.1 billion defamation suit in March, insisting VDM’s statements were “libelous, malicious, and damaging”.

Shortly after, a court in Nyanya issued a restraining order barring VDM from further defamatory publications.

VDM’s latest post references the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, suggesting he expects them to finish what he views as an incomplete investigation into Mercy Chinwo’s networks.

He warned: “…thanks to your friends at @officialefcc you guys should finish the job y’all started…”

In May, VDM himself was arrested by either EFCC or DSS officers at a GTBank branch—an incident he later termed “being held hostage”.

The ensuing public outcry included statements from Mercy Chinwo’s former manager, EeZee Tee, who advocated for VDM’s release, praising his activism and calling for fair treatment.

In his Wednesday post, VDM accused Mercy of orchestrating a PR campaign: “…and yes I see the damage control you are doing…”

He implied that any efforts to manipulate the narrative—especially with aid from “friends at EFCC”—will not deter him, adding: “…GOD CANNOT BE PLAYED… you can lie to the world and get away with it but you can’t lie to yourself…”
