Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Aba-based legal expert Ben Udechukwu has cautioned the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to be wary of his association with a coalition of political parties, warning that it could tarnish his political reputation.

In a strongly worded memo titled “They Will Stain Your White,” Udechukwu advised Obi to stay away from the coalition—which has adopted the African Democratic Congress as its preferred platform—unless he has already secured its presidential ticket. He expressed concern that the political figures behind the coalition could damage Obi’s credibility, particularly given his lack of experience in competitive party primaries.

“I have evaluated the concerns raised by Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed (your Vice Presidential candidate in 2023) regarding your association with the COALITION,” Udechukwu wrote. “You have a track record of sustained principles of honesty, straightforwardness, resilience, and unparalleled doggedness. There is nothing to prove to anyone anymore.”

Drawing a biblical analogy, Udechukwu referenced former politician Nicholas Ukachukwu’s departure from the Peoples Democratic Party, citing “Psalm 1:1: Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of mockers.” He likened past ruling parties to a “cesspit of evil,” suggesting that the same cycle of political opportunism could repeat itself.

Udechukwu reminded Obi of his 2023 campaign, which symbolized hope for a “New Nigeria,” but warned that aligning with certain political figures could undermine his integrity. “If you have not successfully negotiated and secured the presidential slot, stay away from the Coalition, else they stain your white,” he cautioned.

The legal expert also questioned Obi’s chances in a competitive primary against seasoned politicians like Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi, describing them as “maverick politicians” driven by personal vendettas rather than genuine reform.

“These men have been enriched emotionally by their hatred for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Udechukwu wrote. “You have only consistently demonstrated your disdain for the frustrating institutional decay. You have no political feud with Tinubu or any politician at that. You are not seeking power to even scores or retire real/perceived enemies. You simply want a Nigeria that would maximize her potentials, a system that thrives on equity and justice.”

While acknowledging Obi’s noble intentions, Udechukwu urged him to carefully consider his next political moves, praying for divine guidance in his decision-making.
