Napoli should persuade Osimhen to stay – Ex-striker Giordano

Former Napoli forward, Bruno Giordano, believes it would be a major achievement if the club could persuade Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to stay for the upcoming Serie A campaign.

Osimhen, who spent the entire last season on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray, played a pivotal role in their domestic double, clinching both the Super Lig title and the League Cup.

The Nigerian international had a standout season, netting 37 goals and providing eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Despite widespread speculation surrounding his future, Napoli have named Osimhen in their squad set to begin pre-season training in mid-July, signaling the club’s interest in keeping him beyond the summer.

Speaking to Il Mattino, Giordano emphasized the impact Osimhen’s continued presence would have on the team, “They would be even stronger, almost invincible. It would be a great coup for Napoli. Because with the tough defence we saw last year and a stellar attack nothing would become impossible.

“For Napoli it would mean sending a very strong message to the world. If you also add Osimhen to this team, it becomes unbeatable in Italy and would also be scary in Europe.”

Although Osimhen’s current contract runs until June 2026, Napoli reportedly hold the option to extend it by an additional year.

However, his €75 million release clause excludes Serie A clubs, meaning Italian suitors such as Juventus would have to exceed that figure to land the striker.
