Super Eagles and Sevilla striker Kelechi Iheanacho has sent a reassuring message to Nigerian football fans, declaring that his most impactful years are still to come.
The 28-year-old forward, who recently concluded a loan spell at Middlesbrough, remains optimistic about the journey ahead, both for himself and the national team.
Iheanacho, a former Manchester City and Leicester City player, made this known during an interview with the Complete Sports YouTube channel (@completesports) at the Troost-Ekong Foundation Charity Celebrity Match, where he shared thoughts on the charity cause, his goals for the future, and Nigeria’s chances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Reflecting on his participation in the charity match, Iheanacho praised the initiative, “Yeah, it’s very good. It’s massive. It’s a good cause for the community, so we love it,” he said, highlighting the event’s significance and impact.
Eyes on AFCON and a Promising Future
As the 2025 AFCON approaches, Iheanacho, a key figure in the Super Eagles team that reached the final in 2023, voiced his belief in the team’s potential — but stressed the importance of delivering results over making predictions.
“The future – look at the sky. The future is bright, my brother. So we have a lot to achieve in the future,” he stated with conviction. “There are a lot of things to achieve in the future. So the future is bright.”
When asked to assess Nigeria’s chances at the next continental tournament, he gave a reserved yet hopeful response, “I don’t like to talk about, obviously, things ahead. I like for us to get the job done. So when we get the job done, then we can talk about it,” he reiterated.
Post-Middlesbrough Plans Still Unfolding
Having spent five months on loan at Middlesbrough from Sevilla, Iheanacho made good use of regular minutes in the English Championship.
While his next club move remains undisclosed, the Nigerian international remains an experienced asset, offering quality, maturity, and attacking prowess wherever he lands next.
With a renewed sense of purpose and unwavering belief, Iheanacho is clearly focused on the next chapter and the Super Eagles faithful will be watching closely.
